Culture, like mathematics or a language needs tools to be understood. Mathematics comes with numbers and formulas, languages are explained with the help of grammar and vocabulary rules, Culture has its Dimensions.

Fons Trompenaars designed a set of 7 dimensions in order to better compare, understand and reconcile cultures.

He is not the only one how came up with such tool, but his dimensions are the most useful to date. His 7 dimensions are:

Universalism Vs. Particularism
Individualism Vs. Collectivism
Neutral Vs. Affective
Diffuse Vs. Specific
Ascribed Vs. Achieved Status
Time orientation
Inner Vs. Outer centered towards Nature

We also use another dimension, Equalitarian Vs. Non Equalitarian society
